Attorney Scott A. Schmidlkofer is a partner at Schmidlkofer & Toth, LLC and a lifelong resident of Wisconsin. Scott was born in Madison and raised in Sauk Prairie. Following graduation from high school, Scott served in the United States Navy and saw active duty during Operation Desert Storm. Scott was highly decorated during his time in the Navy. He received the Southwest Asia Service Medal with a bronze star, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his role in rescuing victims of the Mount Pinatubo disaster, the Sailor of the Year Award in 1991 and a personal citation from the admiral of the seventh fleet for outstanding performance during the Gulf War.
After serving his country, Scott returned to Wisconsin where he attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (B.A. History 1998). Scott was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society. After graduating with his bachelor’s degree, Scott attended law school at Marquette University.
During law school, Scott was a member of Marquette’s Moot Court team. Scott competed on behalf of the team at Tulane’s Mardi Gras Invitational. He was also a member of the Sports Law Society and served as a legal intern for the Milwaukee Bucks. Following his internship, Scott clerked at a local firm where he practiced municipal law. Scott received his law degree from Marquette University in 2001. He delivered the valediction to his graduating class.
Following graduation, Scott worked as an associate at a New Berlin law firm where he practiced labor, employment, family and election law. Scott was responsible for adding family and election law services to that firm’s practice. Scott represented Peter Agnos in successfully defeating Karen Ordinans’ recount challenge in a recall election in 2002. Scott, providing pro bono representation, also spearheaded the litigation protecting the recall petitions of Milwaukee County Board Chairman Lee Holloway and State Senator Gary George.
In 2005, Scott, Attorney Mark Toth and Attorney Basil Loeb started Schmidlkofer & Toth, LLC.
Today, Scott specializes in family law. His expertise includes divorce, custody and placement disputes, child support collection, CHIPS, TPR and a number of other family and children’s court matters. Scott is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Scott is also a member of the prestigious Inns of Court and Post 6498 VFW Veteran’s of Foreign War.
Aside from the practice of law, Scott enjoys golfing.
