Attorney Basil M. Loeb is a partner at Schmidlkofer & Toth, LLC. Basil was born in London, England. He was raised in Toronto, Ontario where he resided until 1995. Basil attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario where he majored in history and physical education and was a journalist for the school newspaper. After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Basil moved to Milwaukee to attend law school at Marquette University.
During law school, Basil was a member of both the Marquette Law Review and the Sports Law Review. Basil published a number of articles in both journals. Basil received third place for “Abuse of Power: Disregarding Legal Principles to Invalidate Tort Reform” in 2000 in the International Defense Counsel Writing Contest. Basil also received Dean’s List honors while at Marquette Law School and was given an award for receiving the highest course grade in Sports Law. Basil received the Joseph Tierney, Jr. award for proficiency in sports law and was named Who’s Who of American Law Students in 2001.
Following law school, Basil worked as an associate at a New Berlin law firm where he specialized in criminal, traffic and municipal law. He was successful in obtaining a reduction in prison sentence from 40 years to 20 years. Basil, along with Schmidlkofer & Toth partner Mark R. Toth, was responsible for opening a new location for that firm.
In 2005, Basil, Attorney Scott A. Schmidlkofer and Attorney Mark R. Toth started Schmidlkofer & Toth, LLC.
Today, Basil specializes in criminal, appellate, traffic, business and real estate matters. Basil’s expertise includes criminal defense, appeals and municipal trials. Among many other local companies, Basil currently represents Time Warner Cable, and NorthStar Loans. Basil is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the American Bar Association, the Milwaukee Bar Association and the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Basil resides in Wauwatosa with his fiancé. He enjoys exercising and golfing in his spare time.
